PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS

Our practitioners have extensive experience in the assessment of conditions that can impair learning and negatively impact academic achievement, including intellectual disability, AD/HD, dyslexia, or other learning disabilities. We can provide psycho-educational evaluations for children (age 6 or older), adolescents, and young adults.

A psycho-educational evaluation typically involves the administration of standardized tests to evaluate intellectual ability and academic achievement.  The purpose of such evaluations is to identify appropriate academic placement and the need for an Individualized Education Plan, a 504 plan, and specific academic accommodations.

We tailor each evaluation based on the individual needs of the client and the referral question.  In addition to determining IQ and academic achievement levels, evaluations may involve the assessment of additional domains of functioning, such as:

  • Language

  • Learning and memory

  • Sensory motor

  • Visual-spatial ability

  • Attention and processing speed

  • Executive Functioning

  • Personality and psychological functioning

The assessment process typically involves a clinical interview to obtain a comprehensive history, review of records, administration, scoring, and interpretation of tests, a comprehensive report that summarizes findings and provides recommendations for academic planning and resources, and a feedback session to explain and discuss results.
